Quite an Encounter - And, it Started at a Sports BTaking advantage of a recent baseball road trip, I happened upon what appeared to be a very nice sports bar. It was lunch time, so I figured "what the Hell?" (NOTE: this took place in St. Louis, Missouri, USA). Upon entry, the place was packed - even at the bar. I was about to leave for the next venue, when I heard a "Hey!" I glanced in the direction of the voice, and there was a very handsome couple in a booth. It was just the 2 of them, so I wandered over."What's up?" I spouted. They both smiled and asked if I'd like to join them. I returned the smile, introduced myself, and said "Wow - what a great invitation. People in the U.S. tend to not embrace communal dining like I enjoy in Europe. Thank you!"I sat, and they introduced themselves. Now, I was wearing baseball garb, but it was not attached to a particular team. They asked about it, and I said "After visiting 91 minor league stadiums and 23 major league stadiums, I've learned to be careful about the "colors" I fly." They laughed and our server visited the booth shortly thereafter. She asked for a drink order, and I spoke up: "Since you were so generous in sharing the booth, the first round is on me!" They didn't argue. The server was fetching drinks as we got the conversation going. He is originally from suburban St. Louis; she, a transplant from Paris, France. Dan was a great guy - much like me in gregariousness, great eye contact, etc. I've been a "people person" all my life." Collette is a dark haired beauty, with equally dark eyes and fair skin. She's been in the States for about 2 years, and Dan was about to introduce her to baseball (his passion, as well as mine). Drinks came, then another round - all the while conversation flowing like the beer. Jokes were flying as we engaged. I mentioned I was on a road trip for 2 weeks, catching as many games as I could. Dan was in awe of the number of venues I'd seen - envious, more accurately. Collette doesn't understand the game, as soccer is more her thing. Our conversation began to shift, as we shared more about ourselves. Dan was pulling Collette close to him, and I had to say to them "Dan, you're a very lucky man to have such a beautiful woman on your arm - and, she speaks French!" Collette giggled and blushed; Dan's chest expanded with pride. They asked about me and my travels, and I indicated that Northern France
